History of the airport
The first flight of the Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport was on July 12, 1957. It was to travel from Novosibirsk to Moscow. The airport was orignally owned by the Tolmachevo Aviation Enterprise and the Ministry of Civil Aviation of USSR. But in 1992 it became a joint stock and it government owned 51% of it. It is the first airport ever to get the ISO 9002-96 certificate. November 29, 2001 marked an important event for the airport. It was the day when the airport served its three-millionth annual passenger.
The city
The city of Novosibirsk is present in the southwestern parts of Siberia. It is situated at the banks of the beautiful Ob River. It is the most populous city in Russia after St. Petersburg and Moscow.
