Slovenia is one of the most important touristic centers in Europe, especially during the winter. One city that provides international flights to and from Slovenia is Ljubljana. The airport is relatively new, being officially opened since December 1963. At the moment the airport has only one terminal, but the construction of a new one will begin this year and it is expected to finish before the end of 2015. Both terminals will have a capacity of more than 4 million passengers a year. Although you might think that only one terminal might not be enough, it is. Last year the airport handled no less than 1.2 million passengers without any issue. The airport is placed only 11 miles from Ljubljana, meaning that you can get there from the airport with a car in less than 20 minutes.
In terms of airport utilities, Ljubljana airport has many great features which won’t let you get bored if you have to spend more time there. If you want to eat something, you can choose from three different restaurants, including a self-serving one where you can pick whatever you like. Also there are some great coffee shops and bars where you can have something to drink. If you want to buy something for the loved ones, you have three different shops to choose from. In each one of them you can find amazing gifts and souvenirs. Another great thing is that the airport has three separate rooms specially designed for team-leaders and manager who want to set up a quick meeting. All you need to do is talk to a staff member and your longue / meeting room will be expecting you. Leaving the airport can be done in a few manners. If you want to get to Ljubljana, you can take the airport’s bus. It will take you the nearest city – Brnik, and from there you can take a train. If you want a more straight forward way, you can opt for a taxi. Taxis are found right in front of the airport. The 3rd way is represented by car hire companies. Inside the terminal you will find many offices where you can car hire at affordable prices. Remember that if you have anything to ask of if you don’t manage to find your way around the airport you should always contact one of the staff members because they will be glad to help you.
Slovenia is a great country to visit, especially during the cold seasons. Sports like ski-jumping, bob-sleigh or alpine ski are often practiced in Ljubljana. So go ahead and buy some tickets now for the next winter because you won’t regret.
