Kalamata International Airport is a relatively small airport located near town of Kalamata, in Greece. The first plans of constructing this airport were developed in the 1950’s, and soon enough, in 1959, the airport has become functional. The airport has a relatively small number of passengers, but during this summer the number erupts. This is happening because many people decide to make from Kalamata a holiday destination. Kalamata Airport initially had 2 runways, but recently one of them has become a taxiway. The remaining runway has a length of 9000 feet and is made of asphalt. The terminal building has been reconditioned in 1991 and it can handle more than 1.5 million passengers.

Even though the airport is relatively small, it still offers passenger all the comfort they need. A large longue with places for passengers to wait there next flight is available. Also there are plans of installing WiFi technology in the entire terminal. When it comes to eating and drinking you will find several places where you can do this. There are also a couple of shopping areas where you can buy gifts and souvenirs, including the well-known duty-free shop. Inside the airport you will have many things to do and you won’t feel deserted. Due to the fact that in the summer the airport can get overcrowded, there are many staff members and signs installed in the airport terminal, meaning that you will not get lost.
